[Main Text]
The car went well as far as Newhaven but 60 miles from Dieppe a clatter occurred & we found a broken valve spring and broken bits of valve guide in the rocker cover.

We changed the spring but still had a little clatter. We were therefore forced to remove the cyl head & find No 12 guide broken & bits thereof in No 5 cyl:

We removed the bits and have come here on 5 cyls so as to collect help at Levallois.

Apparently the valve spring broke on exhaust & of course jumped out & the valve fell onto the piston the little spring ring being absolutely in bits. Hence the smashed guide.

The piston has not suffered nor the valve. If V.A. has some rockers & guides (the rocker was bent too) we will continue as soon as possible.

We will get Vanvooren to tax new seals tomorrow.

Petrol & oil consumption on nothing de quoi écrire chez soi.
