ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} ----- BENTLEY CHASSIS - REAR AXLE. --------------------------- The Experimental Department wish to test out experimentally some 12/41 ratio Hypoid bevel gears on Bentley chassis. These gears are to go in the same rear axle casing as 10/41 ratio Hypoid bevel gears which they supplied to us in 1932 to our Order No. 37664, therefore will you please arrange for a cable to be sent to Gleason Works of America, requesting them to put in hand at once calculations and detail drawings for three pairs of 12/41 ratio, .650 offset Hypoid bevel gears, to be used in the same axle casings and for the same duty as the 10/41 referred to above. We are handing you herewith blueprints of our detail drawings of our present standard 10/41 ratio bevel wheels and pinions viz. GB. 2078 Bevel Pinion and GB.186 Bevel Wheel, which should be sent out by first mail to Gleason Works of America, so that they can arrange for the 12/41 gears to be to the same dimensions. Will you please ask them to submit a quotation for three hardened pairs complete, and one pair soft masters, also for the development of same. They should also send us detail drawings of what they propose to put in hand, so that we can examine same before they do any machining. BY/Cgh.{W Clough} | ||
