to allocate a London car to which the new carburetter could be fitted. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} also said he would like to fit rubber engine mounting to 21-G-IV before it went to France. R.{Sir Henry Royce} remarked that more development is required on this item before it is fit for complete tests in France, and it is worth while to hold the car back for this.

Minute No 6
20/25 HP. Gearbox. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} asked whether a synchromesh second speed gear box was to be fitted to the 10,000 miles car 21-G-IV. R.{Sir Henry Royce} said that it was intended to incorporate this on the next 10,000 miles test 20/25 HP. car following 21-G-IV. Discussion took place as to which was the best type of gear box to use, and it was ultimately agreed that the right thing to do was to scale down the SpectreCodename for Phantom III box which incorporates silent 1st and reverse gears.

Minute No 7.
Phantom II Gearbox. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} asked if the 2nd speed synchromesh box is fitted with a silent first speed gear. R.{Sir Henry Royce} replied that it has not this feature and that he thought it was scarcely necessary because of the rare occasions on which this gear is used.

Minute No 8.
SpectreCodename for Phantom III. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} asked what was the position of SpectreCodename for Phantom III. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} replied that the engine was in a very advanced state and he confidently hoped that a complete engine would be in existence in June. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} asked R.{Sir Henry Royce} the position of the chassis and gear box design. R.{Sir Henry Royce} replied that all the rear end of the chassis had been released and the gearbox was almost completed. He said that in view of information brought back from America by.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Nm. it had been found advisable to modify the original design of independent front wheel suspension. This had entailed a great deal of unforeseen work and had consequently caused a delay. He thought that the delay was justified by the improvements effected. R.{Sir Henry Royce} said that in addition considerable work had been done in collaboration with the frame manufacturers to arrive at a welded frame side member construction that would satisfy the design and the manufacturing point of view. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} asked if the SpectreCodename for Phantom III engine would be fitted into an existing car such as the Vulture. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} replied that the engine would be tested on the test bed and he anticipated that there would be plenty of development work to do on the bed before the engine would be ready for the chassis.
