Re TOOL ACCOMMODATION.
--------

With reference to your HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/MJ15.1.31 your suggestion has been carefully considered by the Sales Officials and Coachwork Committee.

They are of the opinion that it would not satisfy the requirements of our customers to supply the toolbox under the front floorboards as a standard; the accommodation available varies according to the various types of bodies and they think that our present practice is the most satisfactory, viz:-

(1) To accommodate all the tools in a tray under the front seat when there is sufficient space.

(2) To accommodate the tools partially under the running board and partially under the front seat.

(3) Make provision for all the tools under the running board: or

(4) When there is no room under the front seat and no running board, to store the road tools under the bonnet and the little used tools in the chassis frame.

A further point is that if we were to supply the toolbox in the frame as standard the effect would be to increase the cost of the chassis to ourselves, as our previous experience has shown that we cannot get coachbuilders to make allowances for such items as we supply instead of their supplying; as, for instance, the front wing stays, step irons, etc.
