and I do not think we can rely on this car for any modification tests as it appears the running of this car is already fixed up and all we have to do is to supply them with the complete car by Easter.

Would it not be a good thing for us to take advantage of modernising the 6-Goshawk-ll which we now have at the Wks. and could you please supply us with all the alterations and decisions made by R.{Sir Henry Royce} so that we can affect these alterations if such is a practicable feature in view of the present "lock-out" etc. The car then could be driven direct to Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence from the Works and Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} could meet you and R.{Sir Henry Royce} there. This is only a suggestion but I am with you so far as that we must force the pace with certain alterations which will have to be made prior to any cars being delivered to customers. i.e. such features are as follows:-

1. Carburation to settle.
2. Steering joggling.
3. Loss of water from engine.
4. Rattle of the spring shackles.
5. Bending of steering levers.

We have today received 6-Goshawk-ll from the Coach builders. The springs are fixed up with gaiters and the shackles also have been we put on with leather covers which, for the first attempt, appear quite reasonable although are rather baggy. We are now making an attempt, if possible, to fix up some definite alteration in the in-the design of the shackle, such as, brass spinnings, supports so that a more satisfactory type of shackle cover could be fixed. In the mean-time, I think it is well worth while running this car with the present shackle covers left on as fitted.

P.S. Just received another report from Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}
Nothing of special importance except bending
of front steering levers.
Reporting fully on Monday.
