GOSHAWK 11. X4219 X4086 [struck through]

We have this morning received your report dated 29th. inst. and have circulated as requested.

In dealing with your reports, we are in a quandary as to whether you wish these reports to be circulated exactly as written or to convey the impression in other words? So far I have strickly circulated what you have reported but in this report there is one paragraph which reads as follows -

"Do these people think we are ruddy fools - don't they realise that we do not decide to do a thing a certain way until we have carefully considered it in every way"

This I have altered as follows :-

"In dealing with all these various cricitisms and alterations suggested, we do not decide to do a thing in a certain way until we have carefully consider it from every possible aspect."

This I altered after due consideratio [struck through] consultation with Mr. Warwick, Miss. Gill and others in your Department. You will note this alteration in the copy of your report with our comments as circulated and which will be sent to you in due course.

As regards Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}'s next car being driven to Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence. You will note by the copies of correspondence on this matter that it is [struck through] now propose to hold back this car at the Wks. until as far as possible, we have attended to the complaints and faults which now exist and have been reported on by you or Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} or which have been found out by ourselves at the Works, and alterations or improvements which have been condoned by R.{Sir Henry Royce}

I certainly think it would be a good thing to have a final general meeting to settle what must be standardised for the first 50 cars and what improvements could be done later as on this point there seems to be a difference of opinion between ourselves and CJ. and BJ. as they at present think that the cars we are now running 10,000 miles are going to be the standard construction for, at least, 50 cars except for about 1% which may require altering prior to delivery of the chassis.

I feel sure that the feeling of CJ and BJ. is that the Express car must at least be kept running so as to establish some percentage of the car as being good enough to start on production.

The Amateur car, we are pushing ahead with and lettin them have it in the most modern position we can by a definite date
