- 2 - 16. Fit assembled third motion shaft to box, threading the shaft through the assembled first speed gear. Fit outer cone and secure. 17. Assemble second speed gear GB.3400 complete with sleeve, bush and washer. Nip the assembly with a temporary sleeve and tap the centre ball race into position in the box. 18. Remove temporary sleeve and thread on worm gear and adjusting washer. Assemble ball race C.3379 with spring ring in position, fit coupling flange and pull shaft into position. 19. Assemble guide plates, sliding piece, locating pins, springs and steel balls as a complete unit. Fit outer cone GB.3403. 20. Assemble first motion shaft as a complete unit. 21. Fit first motion shaft to box. 22. Place the operating forks GB.3471 in position complete with ball race and retaining rings. Slide in the guide shaft, picking up the operating forks, and secure the shaft in position with retaining washers and screws. 23. Fit actuating lever GB.3470 with eccentric pin in position and secure in box. 24. Fit operating lever GB.3469 with eccentric pin in position and secure in box. 25. Check the movement and adjustment of selectors and cones. 26. Insert reverse shaft complete with driving gear and bush. It should be noted that this was carried out from the front end of the box, since it could not be assembled from the rear end, as was originally intended. The reverse shaft was reduced .100 and a sleeve made to suit. 27. Assemble second motion shaft as complete unit. 28. Fit second motion shaft to box. 29. Remove coupling GB.3731 and fit rear end cover. 30. Fit end cover over selector shafts. continued. | ||
