| R7/C13516. X.1782 May 13th, 1916. Mr Olley. Copies to J Wor {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} for Mr Ellis. Mr Stent and H.H. 15/5/16 COPY [Crossed out: X 1888] Re Revolution Indicator. X.1782 The Admiralty have instructed us to arrange for making six sets of continuous current revolution indicators in connection with Weston Duplex Voltmeters. We intend to wind these the same as previously, and to run them by a small chain drive from the magneto coupling. They will thus run at twice the previous speed, namely the same speed as the crankshaft, which will enable the magneto to give twice the electromotive force, and therefore, permit a larger amount of resistance to be inserted in the circuit. We think it will be found that they will read more correctly under these circumstances. We are at the moment waiting the larger size double volt-meter from the Weston Co. We are not sure whether the Works have got a separate single one of the larger size - type P.2? X.2201 Regarding the vibrator type of revolution indicator, it is understood that the Admiralty wish us to experiment with this type to see whether we can produce a more efficient and suitable instrument than the one which we have seen which is considered to be inefficient by them.
