PHANTOM DYNAMO WITH NEW-TYPE ARMATURE.

With reference to By.15/G.8.2.38, we would like to point out that the new armature referred to had, in its final form a smaller core diameter than the present standard armature. Consequently, the field poles used in conjunction with it, had a corresponding increase in length of core and were wound with a larger field coil. Therefore, the fitting of a new-type armature in a customer's dynamo should be accompanied by the fitting of new poles and field coils.

We would also like to raise the point of the improved brush gear which was fitted to our experimental machine together with the new-type armature, poles etc., and tested out with them. To get the best out of the armature we feel that this brush gear should be fitted. At the same time we appreciate the fact of the probable greater cost of producing it. With this in mind we approached the Morgan Crucible Co., the suppliers of brushes for our various machines who are experts in brush gear. As a result, they offered a brushholder of the best type and embodying all the necessary features at a price of two shillings each, for lots of 500. Details of this brush-holder are attached.

We submit this for consideration as a possible solution.
