17th May, 1938.

Messrs. Johnson & Phillips Ltd.,
Engineers & Cable Makers,
Suffolk House,
BIRMINGHAM.

For the attention of D.C.Mc. Lennan Esq.

Dear Sirs,

We have examined the first five reels of High Tension wire which you have supplied to our specification No.EL.9/1, and find it oversize on the outside diameter. This varies from about .004" on one reel to about .016" on another reel, the thickness varying along its length. On enquiry we find that with the exception of one cable 8" long, of which there is only one off per chassis, the wire is quite unsuitable for production purposes as it is impossible to slide the ferrules etc., over the rubber covering.

The matter has now been passed over to our Order Office, whom we understand, are retaining one reel, and returning the other four.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
