Dear Wilks,

We are still struggling to determine how we shall deal finally with cylinder bore wear.

We are satisfied that we have got to use either short cylinder inserts or plating.

We are running some flash chromium plating, but doubt whether the life of this will be sufficient for our requirements. As we see it the flash is only two or three tenths of a thousandth thick and even chromium plating will not have a life greater than 50,000 miles per thou, so that we should expect the chromium to have disappeared in 10,000 miles.

Is this your experience ?

We have several cars on the road, but have not done 10,000 miles on any of them yet.

Yours sincerely,
