in the same direction we actually get a thrust of 75 lbs on to thumb screw spindle, this seems much to great to operate as shown on 'G 10" blue print'. actually figures are:-
20 x 2/16 x 2 x .577 = 77 lbs
This is making no allowance for locking spring thrust!
It seems to me necessary to adapt a scheme where it is not necessary to push out screw spindle to unlock 'before' turning the screw, somewhat as on sketch herewith!
also a light hand wheel say 2.000" dia Knurled on face or outer edge would give a surer grip in twisting motion required.
