I attached copy to telegram from Mr. Royce received to-day replying to mine of the 5th. inst. (Attached to my Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}12/W5220.) You will see that Mr. Royce again instructs us to discontinue splitting the rear springs at once, but at the same time confirms that we should do nothing to delay the output of chasses. From the next sentence it is clear that he intends us to proceed forthwith with springs in which the lower leaf is unsplit. The action we have already taken therefore is apparently in accordance with his wishes and we now await CJ's approval or disapproval of the proposed course. In view of Mr. Royce's remarks regarding shock absorbers, will Mr. Day please stop the instructions for the manufacture of the present shock absorbers springs giving the 90 obs, maximum loading a nd issue drawings for springs giving a maximum of 60 lbs. These latter should be experimented with as soon as possible By Mr. Hives to confirm that this loading provides sufficient damping. Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} 1 enc. | ||
