To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} X 34 Z Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}1/JH.3.9.36. Shock Damper Connecting Tube. American Type - Rubber Control Pin Bushes. With the control pin fixed, a gradually increased load was applied along the central axis of the connecting tube, and the corresponding deflections measured up to 400 lbs. The rating of the rubber pad was thus found to be uniform, the preload being 35 lbs. The torsionaly rating was also found to be uniform up to an angular deflection of 42° after which 'toggling' occurred. After moving through 85°, the tube was released and a 'set' of 30° was recorded. The tube however returned to its normal position after being moved past that position in the reverse direction and released. A hysteresis test showed the frictional torque to be 0.7 lbs/ft.
