Description of Parts. ORIGINAL. BEVEL ON SCRAPER PISTON RING.
Origin. To overcome over-oiling and smoking.
Experimental Test Report.
The lower ring on the piston which acts as a scraper ring is bevelled on the lower edge. We are receiving complaints of excessive smoking on the Goshawk cars. It becomes worse as they become worn.
Road Test Report.
Run 9500 miles on -1-G-11 successfully.
Run 3500 miles on 3-G-11.
" 1500 " " 7-G-11.
In every case where we have used this scheme we have effected a definite improvement in oil consumption and smoking.
[X] A Scrap and replace at all costs, including Chassis already delivered to customers.
[ ] B Scrap and replace on Chassis in works.
[ ] C Scrap present stock and replace on all Chassis not yet handed to test.
[ ] D Use existing stock Alteration effective on future Chassis.
