Contd:-2- Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}7/T10.8.31. (c) Shock Absorbers. With the low rating springs we shall have still further trouble with Shock Absorbers, and we shall not satisfy Springfield. They will point out that they have shown us in the Delco that this fault can be eliminated by alteration in our design. Further, I feel certain it is of no use sending chassis with our present shock absorbers to America. (d) Probably not so objectionable is the question of performance. It is stated, and I believe proved, that the imported Phantom II is inferior from the point of view of acceleration to the old Phantom I made in U.S.A.. I put before you for consideration the need for Design and Experimental Departments to tackle these problems, and if possible, a 10,000 miles test made on the improvements before chassis are despatched. I do not think America seem to be in a hurry for these chassis, they have a large number of Phantom I's in stock, and if, by further work and waiting a little, we can improve our product so as to reduce complaints and expense in America, we shall have done much. As regards delivery dates, we can pick up easily later on. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} | ||
