Mr. Johnson,
Messrs. Vandervell Products Ltd.,
Western Avenue,
Park Royal,
LONDON, W.3.

Dear Sir,

We are returning under separate cover, one of the inter main bearings which ran 15,000 miles test at your request to Mr. Robotham.

Additionally, Mr. Robotham has asked me to write regarding the trial of your main bearings for a 2.75 dia. crank journal.

This will be carried out on the I/C crankcase for which you have produced us some main bearings of 2.5 bore to your L.1095 drawing. There is enough material in our crank forging to make 2.75 dia. journal and taking your bearing wall of .082, the case would have to be bored out 2.914 approximately, which we can do.

We understand that you may be able to produce some such sets of main bearings without any tool costs and would like you to prepare an arrangement drawing for us, which other than having 2.75 bearing bore is identical in detail to L.1095. You will, of course, give the final dimensions you require us to bore the case and caps, also any other dimensions to suit the larger bearings.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
