1360 FILE JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} Please note & return Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Noted JNR{Charles L. Jenner} 20th December, 1938. W.A. Robotham, Esq., Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Derby. Dear Mr. Robotham, Thank you for your letter of the 16th and the enclosed data. I shall forward the latter to our Engineering Department immediately. I note, however, that the diagram indicates that the tappets are to be fed with an oil pressure of 5 lbs. I take it this is the idling pressure and that a higher pressure will be available at higher speeds. As you may recall, a pressure from 20-50 lbs per square inch is required for normal driving speeds. I have received a copy of a letter written you by Mr. Young replying to your questions about sodium cooled valves. If there is any further information you require, please either let me know or write to Mr. Young direct. In regard to the position of the valve in and L-head engine, it has occurred to me in a radial engine the valves operate in all possible | ||
