Messrs. S. Smith & Sons Ltd.,
Cricklewood Works,
London, N.W.2.

28th. September 1937.

For the attention of Mr. P.O. Dorer.

Dear Sirs,

Referring to your letter of the 23rd. inst. The instrument mentioned in the last paragraph of our letter Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.7/AP.20.9.37, should certainly have the specially printed dial to our drawing D.76076. We do not understand how you have obtained the impression that we do not propose to use this type of dial, and would like to know the source of your information.

The new type dial to EXS.14, which we would like you to urge as far as possible, is for an experimental car and does not supersede the instrument with dial to D.76076.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.

P.S. The first instrument mentioned above should have a 6' 6" capillary, i.e. to D.75953.
