Y3806 BWG{J. C. Bowring} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Sft.{Mr Swift} c.c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c.c. E.H. Sft{Mr Swift}5/BH.26.7.34. File As explained to you on the telephone to-day, we are experiencing trouble due to deposits of Brass Shavings into the Pipe line on the Chassis Centralized Lubrication System. We have made some tests which prove that the method of holding the joint between the Valve and the Cast Iron Junction is not really satisfactory. Every time one of these Valves is screwed up in its junction, it endeavours to make a joint by bedding up against the last thread, and in the process of doing this, usually removes small portions of the threads which fall into the Pipe. We suggest it would be better if the body section of the meter Valve had a shoulder large enough to bed on the flange face of the junction, and so make a tight joint at the top. We shall be glad if you will please send your Mr. Bowering over to see the parts in question. Luvax written. Sft.{Mr Swift} | ||
