(sheet 2) HDY.{William Hardy}1/HP.4.12.35. the shaft as we are no worse off with the exposed sliding surfaces than we are on our non-isolated levers except that there are two surfaces instead of one. The procedure in locating the gate position on the frame laterally will be different from that on the 20/25 or Bentley because the centralising spring is now at the gate end and will not be available to determine when the pendulum lever is in the neutral position in the gearbox. We have, however, made the shaft end of the pendulum lever come flush with the machined bearing face when in reverse. The reverse catch modifications to N.Sch. 4700 should be incorporated. N.Sch.4695 shows the layout of gear and brake levers and here it should be noted that the travels of the gear lever have been increased in all gears which results in the lever being .5" further forward than on N.Sch.4631 although in the same position when in 2nd speed fore and aft and laterally. We have moved the hand brake lever .250" bodily outwards by lengthening the shaft and the bearing tube without alteration to the lever, in order to improve the clearance between the levers.
