Gearbox Phantom 3 - Production Boxes.

----------------------------------

With reference to your enquiry (Conference 2.12.35 in E's office) whether there are any instructions as yet issued only for experimental boxes which we think would be of material benefit to production, and can readily be applied, there is the use of 9° cones for the top and 3rd gears as shown by N.Sch.4661. This also shows anti-rattle plungers, screw thread on the cone surface and thicker bronze cones.

The screw thread has been instructed for the 2nd speed but no alteration of angle has been asked for by us as in this case the ease of engagement from rest is important, and we are reluctant to do anything which will make this worse.
