| 86-001 EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}5/MH.{M. Huckerby}25.2.36 c.c. Mr/NW{N. Walker - Patents} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst re 4 1/4 LITRE BENTLEY - SUITABLE SPARES, TOOLS, ETC. ------------------------------------------------- We find that the above chassis are now being turned out with K.L.G. sparking plug No.850 L.G. whereas the 3 1/2 litre type were fitted with No.765a K.L.G. The gap gauge supplied with the spares is suitable for the 765a type but not for the 850, and it will be necessary for the present gauge to be discarded and a new type obtained and supplied in its place. Can Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst please settle the gauge required, and will BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please instruct accordingly? A further point is the alteration to the tappet adjustment mechanism. A tool for adjustment of the tappets is now required with the spares and we find that the spanner supplied for Phantom II (E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 85176) appears to answer the purpose; the question of correct size, however, should be checked. Possibly this point is already being considered and instructions are going through. We have not, however, been acquainted with this fact, and it appears necessary that instructions should be issued for the kit to be made complete as above; also on chassis now being delivered for these to be completed before the car is handed over to the customer. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} [Handwritten note] R.S. Can you look into this. | ||
