Suggestions for the finish of the Petrol Level Indicator Glass for the 'Goshawk 11' project.

X.3596 We have received a note from R.{Sir Henry Royce} in which he makes various suggestions for the finish etc. of the Petrol Level indicator Glass and we quote his remarks for your information :- (1) The Glass should be smoothly cast and the edges ground so that there is no tendency for a roughly cut surface to start cracks inwards. A cheap method would be to cast a disc of the correct size and to grind and polish the surfaces after the style of a lens. (2) R.{Sir Henry Royce} wishes to know if there is no toughened glass that is less liable to crack. Will you therefore please enquire if we can get any glass discs as suggested above.
