X.4586 X3596 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair},. Dal/M9.5.23. GOSHAWK 11. PETROL LEVEL INDICATOR. X.4586 X3596 We send herewith/scheme 1408 shewing the enlarged N. dial which has been asked for on this instrument, enabling it to be marked in litres or gallons, or both. We think however that Mr. Royce will not approve of the double marking, and we should like one to be left out until we get his opinion on it. We have improved the appearance of the needle by reducing the diameter of the boss and riveting it on to the little hub, and have altered the petrol tight joint on the lines of R2/M1523. There are three alternative methods of holding the dial in place, and we think that the one shewn in the main scheme with a spring ring will be the one preferred. We should like you to attempt to get black letters and markings on a white enamelled surface, similar to a watch face. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
