NOTES OF CONFERENCE ON SPECTRECodename for Phantom III
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11th 1935.

PRESENT:- Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} RHO. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} My.

The six important items mentioned at the previous meeting were reviewed and the present position reported as follows:-

(1) Strap type Connecting Rods.

RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} stated that these rods had suffered some delay due to them having to be sent away to Archdales for drilling the long hole. He promised a complete engine fitted with them by early next week commencing February 18th.

(2) Exhaust manifolds.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} reported that these have been tested on the bench and a report has been issued on power absorption. They are now about to be submitted to tests on the road for noise.

(3) Modifications to Bottom-half Crankcase.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} stated that he had now received a satisfactory full report, which will enable him to go ahead with his design work.

(4) Gearbox Modification.

RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} said that a box incorporating these modifications will be ready for test in two days' time (February 13th)

(5) Braking Gear.

RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} stated he received full particulars of this scheme only a few days ago. (February 7th)

(6) Independent Front Wheel Suspension.

RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} said this came through on February 7th.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} asked that the steering box with the slightly higher ratio than the Cadillac be pushed forward.

RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} estimated this would be finished by end of February.
