Re. The Earl Of Rocksavage's new chassis.

I have to day had a further letter from this gentleman discussing acceleration and speed and again reminding us that his new chassis must be capable of giving the performance of 107-MG which he knew well on the Riviera.

I have discussed the matter with BJ. afresh and we have come to the conclusion that undoubtedly this chassis must be fitted with a 14-tooth axle which will therefore modify all instructions already given to you that the axle should have 15 teeth.

We feel that we must succeed first of all in providing the acceleration required and if we fail on maximum speed, the position will be less serious. In any case, you have been instructed to do all in your power to make this engine give a good performance and you have 107-MG as a model. All we ask is that you shall repeat the performance in this case which is capable of being given by 107-MG. This car last week lapped at "Brooklands" at over 70 m.p.h.
