Contd. -2- EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 2/T29.11.21. Dynamo (Contd). The mechanical details we believe are all fixed up. C.A.V. EQUIPMENT FOR 3 CHASSIS. Battery. It is proposed that the C.A.V. Willard 12XR2 battery be used, two of which we already have in the Elec. Expl. Dept. Further batteries have been ordered. Starter Motor. This will be the C.A.V. 4½" type SC starter motor, similar to sample machine already supplied to us, but with mechanical details slightly different, as already arranged by the D.O. with Messrs. C.A.Vandervell. Starter Motor Switch. The foot operated model of the two samples recently submitted to us by Messrs. C.A.V. was approved, and three further switches have now been ordered. Ammeter. Standard Weston, as used on 40/50. Dynamo. This will be the C.A.V. type DB {Donald Bastow - Suspensions} dynamo, single field winding third brush control, similar to sample machine already supplied to us, with the exception that it is thought advisable to have a terminal cover to protect the otherwise exposed terminals, because with the arrangement as proposed these terminals will be alive when the charging switch is on and the dynamo not working. It has been put up to Messrs. C.A.V. to make this alteration, which appears to be the only one necessary. Cutout. It is proposed in this instance to use the Bleriot cutout, of which we have quite a number which are approved. Combined Switchbox & Junction Box. Three C.A.V. switchboxes are on order. These, as regards connections, can be made quite suitable with very slight modification for this earthed Goshawk system, the negative bus bar being connected to the positive side for the purpose of extra distributing points required for Klaxon, body lighting and ignition, as indicated in diagram.
