Messrs. Richard Klinger Ltd.,

LONDON. S.E.1.

Dear Sirs,

BRAKE LINING.

We have tested the samples of Klinger Brake Lining, and regret to say that it is no use to us.

The lining we need should have the following characteristics:-

(1) The static coefficient of friction should not be higher than the slipping coefficient.

(2) The higher the rubbing speed, the greater should be the coefficient of friction.

(3) The coefficient of friction should preferably rise with temperature rise, but at least should not fall very much below the cold value.

We have no lining which absolutely conforms to this specification, but we have nearer approximations than yours, and a good deal of work is being done to achieve it, by brake lining manufacturers of good repute.

Yours faithfully,

For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
