COMPLAINT CASE.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}... from H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints}

RECEIVED APR 1938

H.6/H27.4.38.

Sir Francis Peek, Bart.,
P.III chassis No. 3-CP.108.
-------------------------

Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} telephoned this morning to give advance information of a serious complaint of the above car.

You will probably recall that at the end of November, as a result of a variety of troubles and after the car had been returned especially in connection with the starting of the engine a number of times to Cricklewood, Sir Francis put in a strong complaint to Jack Barclay, ending with a threat to claim either a refund of his money or a new car.

As, however, he was going abroad for two months we had the opportunity of having the car at N. and sending it to W. to go right over it very thoroughly.

This was done and the car was redelivered to Jack Barclay Ltd., about the middle of January in readiness for Sir Francis' return to this country.

Apparently he postponed his return, with the result that the car was sent only yesterday to meet him at Southampton.

Sir Francis reached Jack Barclay's premises after our closing hour yesterday evening with the car in a cloud of steam and the engine boiling on account of a burst oil cooler. We understand that he was very exasperated.

Arrangements were made to deliver the car to N. where the matter is being dealt with to-day and it is expected work will be finished tonight.

I understand that the oil cooler which has failed is of the 'E' type and in this connection, it is important to record that Dept sheet No. 359 of the 15th Oct. 1937 instructed that the first three hundred oil coolers of the hand-soldered type should be changed for others which had been dip-soldered. This covered all the 'AZ', 'AX' and 'BU' P.IIIs.
