It is understood that the cure for gummed pistons is rings with increased wall pressure.

No work on the above should proceed until increased pressure has been allowed for, at least 50% increase on the present standard. This should have marked effect not only on the gummed rings, but on oil consumption and piston reliability, as regards seizing up.
