I think it would be important for the Works to make series of tests as to the relative all-round effectiveness of "Mex" spirit and "Pratt's" spirit. It appears to be a definite impression in London that "Mex" spirit causes detonation to be produced under conditions, where with "Pratts" spirit the detonations are absent. If this fact could be established we should have no more contracts for "Mex" spirit for Trials purposes. P.N. [Handwritten Annotation] War Have we information on this point? 30/6 W.M.
