re. 20-HP Air Valve Sticking.

Further to our EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}15/H18.6.24, Mr. Ellis has now demonstrated to us an Air Valve which appears to fulfil our requirements.

The outside surfaces of the piston and the bore of the cylinder have been burnished, which is the surface we require in order to obtain satisfactory results.

We have also got a little more clearance between these two surfaces and reduced the number of holes in the piston top to three.

In this condition, the air valve complete drops in about 2 seconds. We suggest that this should be specified as 1 1/2 - 2 1/4 seconds.

We shall be glad if you will please instruct for this specification to be carried out as this is essential to fulfil our requirements and conditions of service.

At the same time, we shall be glad if BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} can arrange for this to be specified on the drawing.

EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}
