contd :- -4- Front Axle Control Dampers to IOP. E.79507. N.S.2635. Anchorage for front axle control dampers to IOP.F.79517.N.S.2663. The second set of dampers fitted gave no trouble. Loading remained constant and no loss of oil took place. The anchorage bearings of the control arms were O.K. after attention to the lubrication. A new scheme for the lubrication of the ball end has been got out to overcome the failure reported. Steering Column & Box 'E' type. to IOP.F.79331. L.F.1155. N.S.2570/2636/2547/2559/2737. .720 lead worm and nut F.7962. F.78250. Special worm and tube F.79622 F.79345. Assembled as shewn on drg. EK.3519. With the exception of wear of the ball end of pendulum lever the steering remained as reported at 5000 miles. Flywheel & Clutch to IOP.G.76591 - fitted with gear ring G.77304. AHG. steel not hardened. The clutch during the remainder of the test operated quite satisfactorily. The pick up was smooth and it stopped when disengaged freely. A new fabric coupling was fitted at the finish of the test - the one replaced was distorted and in a bad condition. See lubrication report for condition of bearings etc. Gearbox & Actuating Gear to IOP: G.76764. N.S.2699/700. Ground gears servo motor mechanism to IOP.G.76820. N.S.2699/2538. 30° cam levers G.77394/5 - Servo drive IOP.G.76740. There is nothing further to report - our 5000 miles test report covers the conditions throughout the test. Propeller Shafts and Universal Joints to IOP.G.76851. N.S.2547. We had no trouble during the test with the joints - very little oil was lost. After the test and during examination a weakness of the joints was observed and fully reported upon. Rear Axle to IOP. G.76880 G.75770. Sch.G.L.277/8. 1° Hypoid rear axle tubes G.L.77206/7 modified to suit oiling scheme G.L. 277/8. As reported at 5000 miles lateral play developed in the housing of the pinion. It was approx. in the same condition at the finish of the test. Our report on lubrication deals with the other features. Rear Brakes to IOP: G.7723. N.S.2652/2732. G.L.278. As previously reported the rear brakes are not efficient. The scheme for keeping out water was adopted at the finish of the test, afterwards a short test was carried out afterwards contd :- | ||
