COPY EFC. WA.{Mr Wallis}22. 23.4.24. X.237A - TEST OF WATFORD E6 MAGNETO No.23071 OFF 115EE. This magneto was first put through a test to the production specification, and was as follows :- Primary gap .018" Safety spark gap 8.0 mm. Continuity O.K. End play in armature bearings. Sparks irregularly at all speeds on 5.5 mm. gaps. Low speed sparking characteristics (a) Fully advanced 250 r.p.m. (b) Central position 310 r.p.m. (c) Fully retarded 375 r.p.m. An endurance test consisting of a run at speeds of 30 and 40 m.p.h. for 3000 miles was then carried out, this test being for the express purpose of ascertaining whether the platinum points burnt away (according to the customer's statement). At the end of this run on examination it was found that the points were O.K. with the exception of a small pip on one and an indentation on the other. The contact breaker herewith for inspection.
