The following is a suggested programme for obtaining information required to obtain "leaders" on the various jobs. B.80. (a) With existing pipe first determine road setting (correct fuel level), then see how low speed "build up" compares with Phantom III, Buick and Wraith (comparative downdraught systems). (b) Fit expl. pipe having increased area of hot spot, using same carburetter. (c) To follow later; smaller bore indu. pipe. (d) Constant speed consumptions to compare with the Buick; also normal cons. run to Buxton (45m.p.g. average). This should be done as a straight comparison; correction for weight and gear ratio can follow in accordance with results. Duplex System on 6-cyl. The main interest in this system is whether it will reproduce the same results as 2 S.U. carburetters for:- (a) Performance (b) Fuel economy. It is suggested that the test should be carried out on a B.V. chassis because we know that the 2 S.U.'s gain most over the single Stromberg, when run in conjunction with the longer duration camshaft. | ||
