AUTOMOBILES ROLLS ROYCE FRANCE LIMITED. P A R I S EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Wa.{Mr Wallis}8/Go.6.7.21. Re. Front Axles. --------- We are of the opinion that the strength of the front axles might well be looked into. We have had recently several cases of cars which have come in for attention for wear in the steering (post war chassis) and in such cases, we always test the front axle very carefully and we have discovered that several have been bent. This is only attributable to the heavy and hard tyres now used and the bad state of the French roads. It should be remembered also that most of our clients over here travel at extremely high speeds and never dream of slackening up on bad roads. Your views on this subject would be of interest.
