RE: REDUCTION OF TOOL KIT
CARRIED ON 40/50 H.P. CARS.
---------------------------

On the 14th instant, the Sales Conference further considered this question - your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GY2/LG1.5.29. and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GY1/LG2.5.29. and Em15/W.5.29 and previous correspondence.

S., being anxious to get into force the scheme whereby only certain tools are carried and the remainder kept at the garage, are prepared to agree to the deletion of the large adjustable spanner and the gas pliers from amongst the tools to be carried always on the car. They point out, however, that the addition of these tools to the kit supplied was only proposed because CWB. considered that it was possibly advisable to carry some tools which would grip anything, in view of the fact that nearly all the special tools for large nuts were not being carried on the car.

Abandoning these two special tools, which are not now supplied with the kit, means that there will be no additional cost except in respect of the special box to carry in compact form the tools which are to be left behind in the garage, and only taken away when the car goes on an extended tour, such as for some months to the Riviera or to Scotland, where the box can again be left in the garage.

The Sales Conference would be glad to have a quotation from W. of the cost of such a box to be supplied for every car.

Note:
----
With reference to the above memos it is, of course, agreed that spare valve springs, the valve removal tool, tappet adjustment spanner, and of course, the starting handle, must be carried on the road.
