Dear Mr. Robotham,

Apparently you have been having a chat with Mr. Newton, because I have received a report from Newton on the subject of the 'L' shaped Ring. Both you and Mr. Newton seem to be entirely unaware that we are manufacturing this Ring, and have been doing so for some considerable time: in fact we have got it logged up on our sales sheet and we have standardised it on our replacement piston job under the name of "Everseel."

If you are in the market for this Ring do let us make you some up. I remember there was an occasion when, very foolishly, my people I believe made some of these Rings for your firm and then lapped them into a cylinder after they had been completed. This, of course, spoilt the effectiveness of the job which relies upon the removal of a certain area of the material in the Ring for causing the Ring to tilt when in actual operation, and so giving it a scraping edge. My people in the Inspection shop, finding that the Ring did tilt and not knowing that this was one of the functions of the Ring, had them lapped, but we are in a position to supply any quantities of these Rings to you.

Yours sincerely,
Jhn. Howlett
