Oil Coolers.

Comparison between SpectreCodename for Phantom III & Buick - Pressure/Temperature Tests.

A new LeC.4386 SpectreCodename for Phantom III cooler unit was inserted in the delivery pipe of an oil pump, and after heating up the oil (continuously circulated to avoid sudden temperature rise in the cooler) to 130°C. inlet temperature - there was a 10° C. drop at the outlet - the matrix was subjected to pressure as follows :-

25 lbs/sq.in. for 5 minutes
50 " " 5 "
75 " " 10 "
100 " " 10 " - failed.

The failure occurred at the centre of the matrix.

The Buick cooler subjected to similar tests was quite sound up to 150 lbs/sq.in., at 130°C., after 20 minutes.
