-2- Also the pair of Watford aero magnetos we used on an "R" development engine, apart from some screws which were not properly locked working loose, functioned O.K. without a hitch and were in splendid condition after a gruelling at 3,500 engine r.p.m. Mr. Allen of Messrs. North is very willing to experiment with, and endeavour to incorporate on these magnetos, any features we may desire or suggest, and states that they are now in production with this type of magneto and have supplied Napier (used on Schneider engines) and Bristol Jupiters. It would be very advantageous to have both chassis and aero magnetos from the same firm for many reasons both technically and commercially. Messrs. North are also the only All British aero magneto manufacturer, B.T.H. being American controlled. We suggest going ahead with Messrs. North as regards aero magnetos and get more fitted to enginesin preference to B.T.H." From the results generally which we have latterly obtained with Watford magnetos in comparison with B.T.H. machines, we are of the opinion that we should, in future, hold Messrs. North's productions of aero magnetos in higher estimation relatively to B.T.H. machines. EFC. | ||
