We are not interested in the thin top plates of the top spring, as we have come to the conclusion that all of these must be unsatisfactory. We are now not interested in any with rolled eyes, as we feel sure they too are unsatisfactory. We propose testing the following combinations:- 1. The eye opposite the section of the top plate; the top plate being .300 thick. 2. The solid eye, the second plate running right through. 3. The 2 1/4 spring like No.1 spring and No.1 with a still further thickening of the top plate. If this increased thickness appears to do no harm, then we might try a thinner top plate. 5. Stiffer springs with the above No.1 eye. The idea of the stiffer spring is that the deflection shall be less, and the risk of bumping less. Agitate strongly to get hold of some springs with the eye opposite the section of the top plate. F.H.R. (Handwritten in left margin: X1076) | ||
