GOSHAWK FRONT AXLE - DUNLOP WHEELS WITH NEW LOCKING DEVICE.

The report that more water gets in through the new locking device than the old one is rather difficult to understand. In the old one there was a cylindrical fit which was very narrow around the boss in the hub carrying the lubricating plug. We have done away with this and replaced it by some serrations and a larger cylindrical fit. On the other hand the joint between the locking part and the interior of the hub is at least as good in the new wheel as in the old one, in fact it appears to be better, as it is very much larger in area.

If it is the locking device which gets rusted up it might be improved by lengthening the cylindrical fit inside the smaller row of serrations. Possibly you will be carrying out comparative tests between old and new wheels with a hose playing on it.
