Re Lubricating Oils.

We are being pressed by Paris for definite recommendations re lubricating oils. We have replied in the usual manner recommending Prices "C" Motorine for engines and Prices Amber "A" Gear oil for gear boxes, or alternatively Wakefields Castrol Oil, pointing out that if these are not obtainable, it is essential that some compound oil with a good mineral basis be employed. We pointed out that we wish to avoid recommending or condemning any proprietary oils, other than those which we have proved to be satisfactory, as recommended above.

Paris now reply very definitely that neither Prices nor Wakefields oils are a serviceable commodity in France, and they must be in a position to recommend some oil which is procurable.

Paris are pressing us to agree to the use of Vacuum oils, which are most easily obtainable in France, but we have aksed them to let us know what other oils are obtainable, and to give us the analysis of these and viscosity.

This is a matter which should receive very serious consideration, and I shall be glad if Hr. will arrange to have this broght up at the next committee meeting, and as Paris have given us to understand very clearly that so far we have not helped them in this matter.
