On the recommendation of Mr. Minchin I yesterday had a run on a car fitted with what is known as a hydraulic transmitter made by a firm called Turbo Transmitters Ltd. of Aintree Road, Western Avenue, Perivale, Middx. They have been at work on this for about 8 years and have now brought it to a stage at which they propose to put it on the market. The idea is to find a firm who will manufacture the transmitter for motor-car manufacturers. It certainly seems a very ingenious scheme. You will understand that it is not just a hydraulic coupling like the Daimler Fluid Flywheel but a complete hydraulic transmitter which eliminates the clutch and all gear changing. One merely drives on the accelerator pedal and the brake. It is definitely something which you ought to try and know about. I told Mr. Moore, who is the Managing Director, that I should like you to try it and, if you are coming to London any time in the near future, should be glad if you would arrange in advance for him to meet you somewhere with the car. Alternatively he says that he goes North fairly frequently and could call at Derby, which would of course mean making an appointment in advance. I enclose copy of Professor Lea's paper dealing with this transmitter in case you would care to read it but the main thing that I am anxious for you to do is to try the car. Sg. {Arthur F.
