1139, xxx 2424 January 21st.1938 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}11/AP. R.H.Collier Esq., South Yardley, BIRMINGHAM Dear B.D., We have had some most disappointing results with the Luber-Finer. The test consists briefly of circulating two gallons of a standard supply of dirty oil through the filter at a pressure of 30 lbs/sq.in. The Luber-Finer only cleaned the oil for a very brief period, after which it came out dirty and after 4 hours running the flow ceased altogether. We have thought it best not to disturb the filter in any way, and are returning it to you for your own investigation of the cause of the failure. We connected up with inlet and outlet as marked on the filter casing. We would add that two other makes of bye-pass filter tried cleaned the whole two gallons without appreciably diminishing the flow, but that another make behaved in the same way as the Luber-Finer. We hope you will be able to find an explanation, and I have no doubt that our people would be glad to repeat the test if you wish. Am just off to France. If you wish to communicate re the Luber-Finer, will you write to L.Swindall, Experimental Department. Yours sincerely, | ||
