BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X8040 E1/M13.12.27. EAC.10 & 14 CROSS WEB PISTON. X.8040 X.7040 Referring to drg.LeC.2494, Mr. Royce fears to start off with the webs as heavy as shewn, as he says it will always be possible to increase the webs by machining some metal off the dies, but it will not be possible to make them lighter. He would therefore like you to modify the dimensions to the attached drg. LeC.2499. At the same time we shew a modification to the lubrication of the piston pin, whereby the oil holes from behind the scraper ring are connected with the inner edges of the piston pin bosses insteadof the bore, so as to introduce the oil directly on to the ends of the little end bearing of the conn. rod.
