Leyland Continuation of a letter From LEYLAND MOTORS LIMITED. (2) Naturally I do not wish to appear as a copyist, but as this problem is of such acute importance I would very much appreciate hearing whether I can come down to Derby to have a word with you on this subject, and also whether it would be possible for you to arrange to loan us a service unit of this nature, suitably sealed, which would indicate that it is not to be used for the purpose of copying, but merely to determine whether when applied to a bus service chassis the synchro-mesh type of operation is suitable. Please do not feel from this letter that I am in any way over-stepping what can be called the bounds of collaboration, as I can assure you that such a reason is very far from the idea in my writing this letter to you. If you feel that such is the case, then I will naturally come to Derby and perhaps you would let me have an opportunity of getting the "feel" of one of these gearboxes in a chassis, from which I could possibly obtain sufficient information as to say whether this type would be suitable for bus service requirements. Kind regards, Yours sincerely, [Signature] | ||
