-4- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/CWH1/MJ3.11.30 contd. BRAKE SQUEAKS AND GROANS. 26-EX. Front brake squeaks and rear bad groans. 1-GN. Recurrent. ditto 46-GY. Front brake squeak. Owner otherwise very pleased with car. 6-WJ. Front brake squeaks and rear bad groans. 58-GY. Ditto 108-KR. Front brake squeak. 44-GN. " " " and off side rear. 17-KR. Front brake squeak and rear bad groans. 108-KR. Front brake squeak. In the case of 6-WJ. the owner had complained of the inefficiency of the brakes. The foot pedal being on the foot board when applied. These should have been externally adjusted only, but were dismantled and rebedded. I found they were bedding the brakes entirely wrong. I shewed them the Depot Sheet dealing with this work but it was quite evident that very little notice had been taken of it. The result was that this job cost more than it should have done. In view of the time spent in rebedding squeaky brakes I tried with success on 44-GN setting the front shoe out half a turn of the toggle adjustment, no other work was done and this method should last longer than rebedding. The doping of the brakes does not last a sufficient length | ||
