-4- CONTROL UNIT FOR HYDRAULIC DAMPERS. A breather hole was drilled in the top cover of the unit .0937" dia. This has improved the loss of oil from the unit, but is not the solution to loss of oil. We have lost 163 c.c. in 2000 miles. It would therefore appear that it is better to work with a lower level which was found satisfactory. PEDALS LOP.F.84384. R.R.SCH.591. OUTSIDE CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT. ADJUSTABLE FOOT PEDAL. The pedals have remained free from vibrations. The anchorage and bearings are in a good condition. RADIATOR & SHUTTERS LOP.E.81407 & LOP.E.81007. LEC.3783 incorporating Harrison Matrix. E.82964 Delivery Bend from water pump with restriction plug LEC.3819 to prevent loss of water. The radiator efficiency is good. With high air temperatures the maximum water temp. reached was 82°C. An average of 76°C has been maintained during the daily runs. The efficiency is such that at no period has the shutters been fully open. With a radiator of this efficiency, more ventilation is required under the bonnet as there is not sufficient air passing through the radiator matrix. This causes high temperatures under the bonnet and scuttle, detrimental to oil and exhaust temperatures, also to persons in the front seats. The French designers have, to overcome this feature, made the front flaps in the bonnet sides open towards the wind to act as scoops, the remaining flaps as our present design. EXHAUST MANIFOLD. The exhaust manifold has contracted to the maximum extent allowed for in the elongated holes for attachment to the cylinder head. Any further contraction will have a tendency to crack the manifold. STARTING CARBURETTOR CONTROLS LOP.E.84173. LEC.3741 - 3775 The scheme for preventing the controls opening during running is quite satisfactory. BALANCING CAMSHAFT 114° LOP.E.84368. R.R.SCH545. LEC.3757. The engine timing gears have been free from rattle or whine during the mileage. | ||
